An ITI Certified TAB Technician is a competent, reliable, and qualified professional who is able to perform, without on-the-job supervision, testing, adjusting and balancing of air and hydronic building environmental systems to produce the design objectives.
To become an International Training Institute (ITI) Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Certified Technician, an applicant must show sufficient experience, pass the air and hydronic written tests, and successfully complete comprehensive air and hydronic performance tests. The tests are designed to be mastered by technicians who are fully qualified and experienced.
The written tests are offered in a traditional classroom setting or online. Applicants are allowed 2 1/2 hours to complete each test. Upon passing the written exams, the applicant is eligible to take the performance tests at one of ITI's certified labs. Each test takes one-full day in length. After passing the performance tests, the applicant is granted ITI TAB Certification status.
